5,057 new COVID-19 cases in Alabama; 1,200 from 2 counties – AL.com

Alabama added more than 5,000 COVID-19 cases overnight.

The Alabama Department of Public Health’s Jan. 8 10 a.m. numbers show the state has had 394,287 coronavirus cases since March with 5,057 added in the last two days. Of that recent increase, almost 1,200 came from two counties – Jefferson (786) and Madison (400). The state added 111 deaths, some dating back several months, to bring Alabama’s death toll to 5,191.

As of yesterday, ADPH reported 3,015 COVID-19 hospitalizations.
