A Wind Chill Warning is in effect through Monday at noon.
Tonight: It has been a record cold day with highs well below zero. The road conditions have improved but some drifting continues leading to icy spots. We will track partly to mostly cloudy skies tonight. The best chance for the partly cloudy skies will be in the northwest and that’s where temperatures will be the coldest, in the mid teens below zero. Where skies are mostly cloudy, temperatures will be in the single digits and low double digits below zero. There may be a few flurries in the southeast tonight. Winds will be northerly at 5 to 15 mph. This will produce dangerous wind chills of -25 to -40 degrees below zero. Frostbite will set in around 10 minutes on exposed skin.
President’s Day: Monday will remain partly cloudy (northwest) to partly sunny with a chance for just a few flakes early in the southeast. While temperatures improve, they may stay below zero for those to the west and north and slightly above zero for areas east and south. Wind chills will stay in the -15 to -30 range with a north wind at 5 to 15 mph.
Monday Night: The same trend of partly cloudy skies to the northwest and some flurries/clouds to the southeast continue for Monday night. Once again, lows dip down to the teens below zero in the northwest with single digits and low double digits below zero in the southeast. Winds will be a touch lighter but wind chills will still be about 25 to 45 below zero.
Tuesday: Skies look partly cloudy with a return to temperatures above zero. Winds should be light and variable for Tuesday with less drastic wind chills that will still be below zero. We will dip to the single digits below zero for Tuesday night.
Wednesday: There will be a chance of light snow with highs back to the teens. Winds will be southeasterly at 5 to 10 mph.
Rest of the Week: Thursday looks partly sunny and Friday looks partly cloudy. Temperatures stay well below normal but highs remain in the mid teens for both days. Lows stay slightly below zero for much of the week.
Next Weekend: There will be more clouds and a chance for some snow over the weekend BUT temperatures are back to about the low and mid 20s with single digits and teens for lows. We should make a return to the 30s next week.
