Prince Philip’s wedding ring for Queen has hidden engraving – ‘Never takes it off’ – Express

The royal couple, who were engaged for almost two years before making the official announcement, wed at Westminster Abbey just five years before she became Queen. But despite the magnitude of the ceremony, which was the first-ever televised Royal wedding, Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh share knowledge never made public.

The Duke made a special inscription on the inside the Queen’s wedding ring that only the Monarch and himself, as well as the engraver, know of.

Royal expert Ingrid Seward discussed the mysterious engraving in her book ‘Prince Philip: Revealed’.

She wrote: “At least Philip didn’t have the expense of a wedding ring, as the people of Wales supplied a nugget of Welsh gold from which the ring is made.

“She never takes it off and inside the ring is an inscription.

“No one knows what it says, other than the engraver, the Queen and her husband.”

The royal couple have now been married for 73 years, a milestone marked last November at Windsor Castle during the coronavirus lockdown.

On Tuesday, Prince Philip was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in London after “feeling unwell” and today the Queen attended her first in-person engagement of the year.

Fears for the Duke’s health soared on Thursday evening as it was confirmed he would spend a third night in hospital.
