MADISON, Wis. — UW Health is offering new options for patients looking to schedule a COVID-19 vaccination appointment.
Now that millions of Wisconsinites are eligible for vaccination, UW Health officials said the health care provider is switching to a self-scheduling option for vaccination appointments rather than reaching out to eligible patients individually.
Those eligible for vaccination can visit UW Health’s website to schedule an appointment through MyChart or sign up for a same-day vaccination appointment at a UW Health clinic when those opportunities arise.
UW Health’s Chief Quality Officer Dr. Jeff Pothof said the new scheduling system will allow UW Health to book appointments faster.
“We are optimistic that the supply of vaccine will eventually increase, and our new scheduling format will allow us to be ready when it comes,” Pothof said.
UW Health officials said patients are encouraged to get a vaccine from any provider they can if appointments aren’t immediately available at UW Health. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services launched a vaccine provider map in late February to help Wisconsinites find options throughout the state.
SSM Health announced Monday afternoon it would start contacting patients via email this week to schedule appointments. Meriter announced Monday it also plans to contact patients in the coming weeks for vaccine appointments.
