A three-metre long python weighing ten kilograms choked and bit a snake catcher as he tried to remove it from a family home.
Joshua Castle caught the carpet python from a fence in a backyard at North Lakes, an hour north of the Brisbane CBD in Queensland.
The handler let the snake slither up his neck to take photos when it hissed at the photographer, before it tightened around his neck and attacked his face.

As the handler held the python to take pictures, he warned the home owner he had already ‘almost been choked out a few times by these guys.’
‘It is a wild animal so I still gotta be careful,’ he said.
‘If it bites, it’s gonna bloody hurt … they don’t know their own strength.’
Moments later, the snake began to hiss at the photographer before strangling Mr Castle.
‘Oh, Jesus Christ,’ he said just before the snake bit him in the face as the homeowner screamed.
‘It’s a bit big; the blokes got it wrapped around his friggin’ neck. I think I’ll need an ambulance in a minute,’ she said to someone out of shot of the camera.

Mr Castle told Daily Mail Australia the snake had been cruising in a backyard before sunning itself on the neighbour’s fence.
‘The homeowner and neighbour didn’t want him there due to having small pets,’ he said.
He said he believed the snake was old at around 15 to 20 years old, judging by its wrinkly skin.
‘He’s been around the bloke a few times, he’s quite old,’ he said in the video.
‘You can tell by [the wrinkles].’
Mr Castle said he was fine after being bitten because the python was non-venomous.
‘Thankfully, no teeth connected with my face, so I’m fine,’ he said.
