In a statement Tuesday, the London Fire Brigade said six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were involved at the incident at the subway station nearest to Britain’s Parliament and Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s residence at 10, Downing Street.

It said firefighters from stations across central London were called to deal with a large amount of smoke coming from the electrical room at 11:29 a.m. and that around 100 people left the station before the firefighters arrived.

The incident was brought under control by 12:49 p.m.
