Gov. Steve Sisolak ‘not anticipating any more mandates’ for Nevada – KTNV Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Gov. Steve Sisolak says more than half of eligible Nevadans are vaccinated or have received their first shot.

During a press conference on Thursday alongside members of the “Get Out the Vaccine” effort, the governor said 63% of eligible residents statewide have begun or completed the vaccination process.

He says Clark County is one of the most vaccinated areas in the state and Nevada as a whole is moving in a more positive direction. As a result, Gov. Sisolak says federal help is no longer needed.

“I’m hopeful that the worst is behind us,” he said. “But you never know with variants that are coming forward. I think that we’re making significant progress on the virus as it relates to Delta, which caused our last surge.”

“I’m not anticipating any more mandates,” he said.

In early July, Nevada became one of the first states to take advantage of FEMA “surge teams” offered by the federal government to assist the state in COVID-19 vaccination efforts.
