Covid-19: After two days, Mumbai once again reports less than 500 cases – Times of India

MUMBAI: Mumbai on Sunday reported 453 new cases of coronavirus.
This came as a sigh of relief for Mumbaikars as the city had been logging more than 500 cases for the past two days. On October 7, the metropolis has recorded over 600 cases — the highest since mid-July.
The overall case tally has now climbed to 7,47,758.
Also, the death toll has now mounted to 16,158 with six persons succumbing to the virus in the day.
Five of the deceased were over 60 years of age, while one belonged to the 40-60 age group. Five of them also had comorbidities.
The number of daily recoveries in the Maximum City was slightly more than the new cases. On Sunday, 457 persons got cured of Covid-19, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
With a recovery rate of 97 per cent, Mumbai has so far recorded 7,24,063 discharges.
The city is now left with 5,028 active cases.
The overall growth rate of Covid-19 cases from October 3 to October 9 is 0.07 per cent, while the doubling rate is 1,057 days.
The number of sealed buildings in the BMC limits has shot to 53, whereas there are no active containment zones (slums and chawls) in the city.
