Details: According to a statement by the security service, the Major General is suspected of treason, attempted murder of a law enforcement worker, and illegal possession of weapons.
The Security Service of Ukraine detained the suspect at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, and he is now under arrest.
According to the investigation, he leaked secret and top secret information concerning the current military and political situation in Ukraine to the Russian special services.
During a search at his workplace, the man tried to shoot members of the Security Service’s investigation team with a Makarov pistol.
Quote: “The detainee was the deputy head of the Chief Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine from 2008 to 2010. He then worked in various civil service posts within this institution and in a senior role at the State Space Agency of Ukraine.
He caught the attention of the Russian special services because of his pro-Kremlin views, which were formed in Soviet times when he trained at the Moscow Higher Combined Arms Command School and the Frunze Military Academy.
On the occupiers’ instructions, he collected secret information that was circulating within the Ministry of Defence, as well as the Chief Intelligence Directorate and the Hetman Petro Sahaidachnyi National Ground Forces Academy.
Russia was also interested in intelligence concerning the activity of strategically important facilities within Ukraine’s military-industrial complex…
The detainee is currently being held in custody. The investigation is continuing within the framework of the criminal proceedings in order to establish all the circumstances of the suspect’s offences.”
